Steven at Causal Effect reached out to me to take on this website development project. The designs had already been provided by We Are Ken so all that was initially required was the conversion and WordPress build.
A year later and I was approached again to provide a solution for an online membership portal which would offer various services including; nutritional information, training videos, measurement trackers, and more.
After a couple of meetings to fully understand the current system and its weaknesses, a clear set of goals were identified. Requirements were also captured, including a recurring subscription service using the GoCardless payment gateway.
Because I’d originally built the website on the popular WordPress platform, integrating it with the WooCommerce system would be simple. This would add the necessary functionality to take payments through the site, allowing us to set up recurring subscriptions.
Since the payment side of things was covered, all that remained was setting up the various database tables to house the different user information for the portal. The last step would be to connect these functionalities all together, providing a smooth and seamless user journey for the portal clients.
After thorough testing of the payment system along with checks against the portal authentication and access, the system went live. It was done in phases, with the initial one accessible by a select few in-person users before it was made available to users all over the country.
